International volunteer abroad Mexico 2

Cross Continental gave me a great experience abroad. They organized a perfect living arrangement for me with a sweet, welcoming family, who helped make the experience extra fun. I love my host family! They are really nice and they helped me learn Spanish. I really like Mexico, it’s such a different culture from mine so it’s a great experience for me. I’ve made some good friends at my workplace at the Asylo de Ancianos, where I taught an exercise class to the residents and read and talk to the elderly and disabled. They are all really nice and I made them really happy since they don’t get many visitors. What I liked most about this organization is how they contacted me throughout my program to make sure everything was going well. I highly recommend you consider a volunteer trip with them, since it is very affordable and safe! Thank you Cross Continental!

volunteer abroad in mexico

“I loved volunteering in Mexico. It completely blew my mind away. There were so many wonderful people that helped me and taught me about Mexican hospitality and its culture. The most rewarding part of my experience was the most that I developed with my students. Here’s a little story of the last day:

So, on Friday, I told my students that I would come to visit them on Monday for my last day of school. My host didn’t realize that I was at home because he thought I left earlier. So he locked the door and unintentionally locked me in. This meant that I couldn’t visit my students until the same day that I was flying out which was Tuesday. I was excited to see my students and I came in with candy to give to them and I explained the situation to my classes. Then we took pictures. Finally, I went to one of my classes to say goodbye. Suddenly, a student came up to me and gave me a hug and a piece of candy, then another and then another. In about 10 minutes I had received 30 pieces of candy, flowers, bracelets, little purses and countless hugs. For the first time, I was about to cry in a classroom because the students little gifts had touched my heart.

I would definitely recommend the program to anyone that is interested in experiencing a new culture, making a difference and learning about themselves as a person. From the onset, the online support staff of Cross Continental was always available to answer all of my questions and reassure me of the safety and security of the program. The people of Mexico are extremely nice and welcoming and the food is amazing. My hosts were like a second family to me and my local coordinator will be one of my friends for life. The teachers in Mexico really care about their students but have an extremely tough job, as do teachers in any other country. However, they welcomed me into the classroom and provided me with unlimited support. Teaching in Mexico has been a truly unforgettable experience. ”

“My experience interning in Mexico with Cross Continental was wonderful! From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by my host family in such a warmhearted way. They tried their best to make me feel at home and were literally among the nicest people I’ve ever known. During the day I helped out at a local store: I was the cashier; I helped managing and looked after stock. On weekends and in the evenings the girls – my host sisters showed me around town and introduced me to their friends, who were also so nice. We hung out a lot and I improved my Spanish significantly. I was so glad I came, because not only the internship a nice break from college, it also let me have the time of my life! I recommend Cross Continental to anyone who wants to do abroad and do something different and fun! Thanks a lot and I really hope CrossContinental grows!”
